BenchMark: Our Courts, Ourselves

Abortion rights, religion-state separation, equal pay, health care – those are just a few of the issues impacted by the federal courts. Judicial emergencies are growing all over the country because judges are not being confirmed to fill vacancies. Speakers at this workshop will talk about the crisis in our federal judiciary and how your section can take action through participation in BenchMark: NCJW’s Judicial Nomination Campaign.

The Delegitimization of Israel: What That Means and What You Can Do About It

This workshop will be held to educate on how best to advocate for Israel in the face of the attempts to delegitimize Israel as a nation-state. This will be the beginning of NCJW’s organized response to the insidious and dangerous delegitimization campaign being waged against Israel on the international scene, within American politics and on U.S. campuses. Our speakers will inform and motivate participants with regard to what we can do as an organization on a national level, through our sections and local communities and as individuals.

Social Justice in Israel and the Challenges to Democracy

This workshop will deal with the social justice issues that concern us as NCJW members, particularly around the issues of gender and race segregation in public and religious space, Israeli Jewish and Arab relations, LGBT concerns and personal status issues. NCJW has been monitoring challenges to such concerns such as Women of the Wall, gender-segregation on public transportation, civil marriage and the rights of agunot. This workshop will educate and update on the most relevant concerns in Israeli society today and what we can do about it as American Jewish women.
