The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.
NCJW seeks a Senior Accounting Manager to work with its Finance and Administration department. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Senior Accounting Manager will manage the organization’s accounting operations, and coordinate the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures necessary to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Supervising the assignments of staff accountants for general ledger, accounts payable, data entry, and cash receipts
- Preparing and monitoring financial policies and procedures
- Recording and monitoring for a 15+ million dollar investment portfolio
- Participating in and implementing monthly financial closings
- Coordinating the annual financial audit and assisting with preparation of all supporting financial documentation
- Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of annual and mid-year budgets
- Working with NCJW fiscal officers (Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer), and other volunteers as assigned
- Assuming other related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and
- 5+ years of progressively-responsible experience working with non-profit organizations in a managerial capacity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, with a team, and independently
- Knowledge of Fund-EZ Accounting software helpful
