Results & Successes

Since NCJW launched the Plan A campaign, sections and individuals across the country have eagerly begun to engage and organize activities. Several NCJW sections have assessed the status of access in their communities, using the checklists as their primary resource. Many have also hosted Plan A events. A few examples include:

  • NCJW Greater Dallas (TX) Section has engaged a committee of nearly 25 women who are using the checklists to assess their community. Through their research at pharmacies and hospitals, the section is not only finding out valuable information but also introducing the Plan A campaign and its mission to pharmacists, hospital administrators, and other community leaders. This group has pledged a three-year commitment to working on Plan A issues.
  • NCJW Peninsula (NY) Section has begun a training program for high school students. Working with Planned Parenthood and NCJW, the teens have become peer educators, able to share important knowledge about sexuality education with their peers in public high schools.
  • NCJW San Diego (CA) Section is working with The Storefront, a shelter and community center for adolescents in urban San Diego to provide contraceptives and information to at-risk youth.
  • NCJW Saddleback (CA) Section joined with its local Planned Parenthood affiliate to host a brunch attended by over 125 women, including 75 high-school and college-aged women. The event featured a panel of speakers who addressed various aspects of the Plan A Campaign, including a physician and an attorney. Some time was set aside for older women and younger women to share their personal experiences regarding access to contraception.

If you know of other exciting Plan A programs, NCJW would love to hear about them! Please email PlanA@ncjwdc.org to let share the news.
